This year was the 25th annual “5 x 7 Show,” a fundraiser for Byrdcliffe in Woodstock, NY. Byrdcliffe is the oldest operating arts and crafts colony in the United States. Artists are invited to submit up to 2 pieces of art for the show. All pieces must measure 5 x 7. Works are submitted anonymously. Artist names are only revealed once a piece has been purchased. And every piece is priced at $150, a very democratic approach to showcasing art. All proceeds benefit Byrdcliffe.

This non-juried show gave me a wonderful opportunity and incentive to create. This mixed media collage, “Seeds of the Season” is based upon milkweed that grows profusely in my garden. It was a thrill to see it hanging at the show along with over 300 submissions. But it was especially exciting that it sold!
