Every spring, the Brandywine Health Foundation hosts a gala garden party, its biggest annual fundraiser. Over 400 guests gather on a beautiful Chester County estate. The garden party committee selects an international theme and then gets to work decorating. They always capture the spirit of the country with imaginative decor and flowers. And the food is also always delicious and authentic. Donors and guests get brief updates on the foundation’s activities. Then, after some scholarships are given, the evening ends with the famous Battle of the Berries at Brandywine. Chefs from local restaurants prepare amazing berry-based desserts and diners vote for their favorite.

I love these parties and I always look forward to which country the committee will select for its theme. Because it is my job to design the invitation. And the invitation helps set the stage for the party. The 2019 theme was “A Glimmer of Greece.” So, some of the type in this invitation “glows” or radiates a bit. And then, I chose to fill the letter forms of the word GREECE with images of this beautiful country… olives, grapes, architecture, tomatoes… and of course, I had to include the beautiful turquoise waters.
